Minor Bantam AA takes 2nd place in Early Bird Tourney
Submitted By Webmaster on Monday, September 12, 2016
The Minor Bantam AA team travelled to Richmond Hill for the annual early bird tournament.   With 3 wins out of 4 round robin games against Clarington Toros, Toronto East Enders, Markham Islanders and North Toronto, the squad was off to the Semi Finals!

In the teams 5th game of the weekend, they were matched up against the Nickel City Jr. Sons..1st overall in their division and had yet to suffer a loss in the tournament.  But the Minor Bantams stepped up to the challenge!  With less than 4 mins left in the game and down a goal, the team tied it up and fought off a penalty in the closing minutes.

Still tied after 3 periods, they went to a "3 on 3"  5 minute sudden victory OT period.  However TNT only needed 8 seconds to score the winning goal!

They had a few short hours to rest before they took on a very talented London Jr. Knights for the Championship.  The 6th game in 3 days fatigue began to set in, however they never gave up and fought a hard battle against a fast team who had won all their games through the tournament.

The team came away as Tournament Finalists in a 5-2 loss!
