U9 AA LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
This past weekend the TNT U9 AA team competed in the 2021 - 2022 YSMHL playoff tournament.

After finishing the league in first place, with a record of 8 - 1 - 1, the team wanted to extend their success at the league championship.

Having finished first, the team faced the Aurora Tigers in the second round.  Playing one of their best games all season, the team cruised to an 8 - 0 victory.   Their next game was against the 2nd place Newmarket Renegades.  Newmarket kept the Tornados on their heels most of the game, handing the team their second loss of the season. Thankfully the tournament was a double elimination format, which allowed the Tornados to battle back to earn a spot in the finals. Sunday morning the team faced the Barrie Colts in a must win situation, with the winner making it to the finals, and the loser going home empty handed.  In one of the most exciting games on the year, the game ended in a 1 - 1 tie forcing a shoot out, a first for many of the young players.  With some excellent goaltending and goal scoring, the team was able to win the shoot out 3 - 1, earning a spot in the final against their rivals, Newmarket. After Saturday's loss to the Renegades, the team was hungry for redemption.  The kids played a very disciplined, physical and defensive game.  They limited their mistakes and capitalize on their opportunities.  In their first year of rep hockey, the group of 8 and 9 year olds were able to win their first championship 2 - 1.

Congratulations to the coaches and the following players.  Ethan, Carson, Wesley, Dante, Nicole, Piper, Daniel, Myles, Carter, Brennan, Carter, Carlo, Taishi, Caleb, Jax, Jack and Geoff.
